Vans, which launched in California in 1966 and continues to exert a tremendous influence not only on the skate scene but also on global street culture, including fashion, music, and art. This was
the first model to feature the iconic side stripe, and
was the second shoe to follow the Authentic, which was released in 1977.
The side stripe design was inspired by graffiti drawn by founder Paul Van Doren.
